For software company Autodesk, the 30-day software trial period offered to customers is critical. Trials are a key part of the customer's purchase decision and account for a significant percentage of the company's website traffic. So when the 2013 version of the Autodesk(r) 3ds Max(r) software released, the company turned to digital marketing agency Resource to create a fresh and innovative way to increase trial conversion. Gamifying Enterprise Social Collaboration

A recent report by the McKinsey Global Institute claims that applying social technologies to enhance enterprise collaboration will add twice as much value to the global economy than using it to reach consumers. However, most of this value remains untapped. Why? The biggest challenge is behavior change – getting people to discard their old ways to embrace social collaboration in the enterprise.

Accenture firmly believes gamification can have a big impact in this space, when executed as part of a larger behavior shaping program. This session will unpack the intrinsic and extrinsic motivations specific to enterprise social collaboration based on our user studies. We will also share lessons learned and results from our journey to gamify our own social collaboration capabilities.

Gamblification is a term that we have adopted to describe the intersection of social media and gambling. Although it may not seem like it at first, many Gamification systems walk a dangerous line, giving users the option to gamble with currency in their system. Work/Play: How Microsoft Leads with Gamification

Global, social, technological, and demographic shifts alter the competitive landscape for businesses across the globe. The impact on organizational behavior is significant. Creativity and innovation are paramount – keystones for 21st century competitive relevance. The speed of business and the pressures of competition require unprecedented agility. At an organizational level, employees are pulled in every direction, asked to perform unreal acts, and pressured for new ideas at a level well beyond the greatest minds in history. Yet, high unemployment levels, globalization, offshoring, outsourcing, contract work, crowdsourcing and a burgeoning population mean uncertainty and insecurity for everyone. A lack of trust and uncertainty around job security inhibit creative undertakings by employees. How do we partner to foster creativity while maintaining a competitive edge? The answer is to create a culture of play and games in the 21st century workplace.

Microsoft has significantly reinvented a number of business processes using gamification, including the Windows Language Quality Game (a test/QA process). Gamification and Rewards: How big brands are rewarding their customers to build loyalty

Despite the overwhelming focus on badges in the gamification community, badge-only solutions have minimal impact on long term customerengagement. Big brands have discovered that the secret to driving customer loyalty is allowing customers to redeem points for tangible and intangible rewards.  Discover both why redeemable rewards work to build loyalty and engagement, as well as how to successfully integrate a rewards system into a gamified loyalty program. Using examples from the NFL, Yamaha Corporation and Adobe, find out what customers are looking for, and how rewards fit into the gamification puzzle.

Questions the talk will answer:

-          Why are rewards important in a consumer facing gamified loyalty solution?

-          How are big brands embracing rewards and sweepstakes in their own loyalty programs?

-          What are some best practices for implementing a rewards program for your brand?`

The Psychology of Fun: Transform Awareness to Impact with the Emotions from Play

Standing on top of a temple in Egypt I had a vision of how to change the world with play. Games and work both require decisions, only games are often more engaging. Today we can use what people are naturally inclined to do to architect systems of engagement to better themselves and their world. We can use these games to succeed where corporations and public service institutions have failed. We can use the psychology of fun to create games of engagement to make us happier and smarter, help us achieve our goals, solve challenging problems like poverty and climate change.

Research shows that people who are in a happy engaged brain states are 50% more productive. We can use the emotions from play to create brain states that drive success in the workplace and in life. Over thirty years games have evolved techniques to create strong emotions that drive play. Ultimately these games can actually deliver public services, such as Tilt World a game to plant 1 million trees. http://bit.ly/TiltWorld

Movies like Al Gore's Inconvenient Truth, viral videos like Kony 2012 raise awareness about important issues. Games, the medium of the 21st century, have the power to turn this awareness into action. In this talk we cover what brain states improve performance, how games create engagement to create these brain states, how to design the specific choices with the Four Keys to Fun, and ultimately how to amplify a game's impact on the player and the real world.
